Braxted Park in Essex is a lovely wedding venue situated in the heart of the English countryside. With a rich history, this estate offers a graceful setting for celebrations. The Grade II listed mansion, surrounded by 500 acres of scenic parkland, provides a harmonious blend of sophistication and elegance.

Couples in search of a romantic atmosphere will appreciate the well-kept gardens, tranquil lakes, and the enduring appeal of Braxted Park. The venue offers various spaces for ceremonies and receptions, each with its own unique character. Whether it's the refined interiors of the main house or the rustic charm of the Walled Garden, there's a setting to suit every wedding style. A Braxted Park Wedding is perfect for those who desire a beautiful and memorable wedding experience in Essex.

The Wedding

Being of Indian heritage, Sheena & Pranal decided to have a Hindu wedding, complete with Jaan (groom’s procession) and a full ceremony under a Mandap. The Jaan was spectacular, with family from both sides dancing along in procession, to the sound of the dholak (drums). Pranal arrived in style, riding in the sunroof of a car with a smoke bomb in each hand. This really added to the spectacle, and the coloured smoke added a layer of mystery and vibrancy to the footage.

Whilst the Jaan was happening, Sheena was getting ready nearby, surrounded by her bridal party, mother and grandmother. Sheena looked amazing in her Lehenga - the intricate details of the skirt, headwear and jewelry really had to be seen to be believed, but hopefully the clips I included in the film do them justice.

The ceremony

Hindu wedding ceremonys are made up of a number of rituals, such as the Jaimala (garland exchange), the Hasta Melap (joining of hands) and the Aashirwad (blessings from parents, priest, elders) - lots of small, intimate moments shared between the bride and groom, lots of moments where parents and elders are called upon for their blessings and advice. I really tried to showcase these moments, and the beautiful details that are part of the rituals in the film, though of course lots had to be left out due to the constraints of making a 5 minute film.

After the Braxted Park Wedding ceremony, Sheena & Pranal joined their guests on the lawns for a drinks reception, where i was able to capture some shots of the guests in the lovely early evening light. The golden hour was also the perfect time to whisk the couple away for some portraits - I was really happy with how these turned out - the combination of the golden sunlight and Sheena’s beautiful dress (and Pranal looking sharp in his tux!) was perfect. The party kicked off after the first dance, giving me plenty of dance floor footage to end the film with.
